Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.
Hey guys!
My name is Haneen Osman, this year’s president of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF for short cuz who has the time to say all of that) alongside my partner Zaid Alaa. Here’s a little about me: I’m 16 years old and this is my third year in Manor Hall and my second year as a part of the MUN leadership team! I’m not gonna list my hobbies partly because I don’t have any and mainly because I can’t be bothered to make some up right now, and I’ve decided that honesty is better than claiming that I enjoy meditating.
I'm currently a junior in high school and my first ever exposure to MUN was 2 years ago, when I participated in the MANORMUN 2024 conference just to see what the hype was about, and surprisingly? I actually really liked it…but I’m not gonna lie, that was probably because arguing with random people gives me a form of satisfaction that I don't know how to explain. No no seriously, name a better feeling than seeing someone trying to act all smart defending a point you know you can easily tear apart with that perfect speech you made up in your head last minute. That exact feeling is what made me realise that maybe going to an MUN wasn’t just going to be a one time thing.. And honestly, the rest is history.
Anyway anyway, enough about me, my fingers are starting to hurt from all this typing. See you in May! I'll stop typing now.
Hello everyone!
My name is Zaid Alaa Darwish and I’m excited to be serving as a chair in the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) this year. This will be my first year chairing, alongside my co-chair, Haneen Osman.
Outside of MUN, I’m really into gaming and binge watching TV shows. My favorite game is God of War Ragnarök. I also really like Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield is the best spiderman). My favorite shows are The Walking Dead, Attack on Titan, and YOU. I also love listening to music and walking.
MUN has genuinely shaped who I am today. I’ve participated in multiple MUN conferences across Al Ain, and through them my confidence and social skills have grown so much and I hope that this experience will have the same effect on all of you as it did on me. What once felt intimidating now feels exciting, and I hope you leave this committee feeling SUPER DUPER confident and proud of what you accomplished. I also want to give a special shoutout to our Director, Ms. Katy, whose guidance and support make everything run smoothly and inspire us to always do better. I really can’t wait to meet all of you, hear your ideas, arguments, and the passion you bring to our committee. ! See you all in May!
